Departing on 30 Jul 2026 from Dubrovnik aboard the Marella Explorer 2 - Cruise No: 2189684
Wake up in the most beautiful city on the Croatian coast. Lively yet full of history, this World Heritage Site is full of fasination but very easy to get around
Woalking around Dubrovnik is like stepping back into the past. Its ancient city walls surround countless buildings that have been perfectly perserved and are easy to find, thanks to the grid-like street system. Look out in particular for the Onofrio Fountain and the nearby Franciscan Monastery with the third oldest pharmacy in Europe. And don’t miss the old medieval Sponza Palance, St Blaises Church and the Cathedral.
Idyllic and relaxing, the cafes, souvenir shops and sights of Trieste show why it once rivalled Venice as one of the key Adriatic trading ports.
Docking in the heart of the city, Trieste is busy, bustling and thriving while also being a very attractive destination with typical Italian architecture. Relax in one of the many cafes and then stroll around the town’s main square – and Italy’s largest – the beautiful Piazza Unita d’Italia.
Set along a wide horseshoe-shaped bay, Koper’s a Medieval town where old and new go hand-in-hand. Lose yourself in the maze of streets, passing historical sights and browsing chic shops along the way.
Although a busy working port, Rijeka has plenty of old world charm squirrelled away. Peach and lemon-coloured buildings march along the pedestrian streets, topped by terracotta roofs and carved arches. Rijeka also serves as a gateway to the islands filling the Kvarner Gulf. They’re a rural, laid-back bunch punctured with coves and beaches.
The second biggest town in Croatia is the first choice for a superb day exploring – or a day shopping in the open air markets.
On the coast in the south of the country, Split is old and beautiful, welcoming and varied. While beautiful lush green forest surrounds Split itself, facing the harbour is anothersight not to be missed – the fortress palace of Diocletian, built in 305AD.
For years, the travel-savvy have kept Montenegro under their sunhats. But now the cat’s creeping out of the bag – and it’s hardly surprising. A tiny republic in southeast Europe, the scenery here will have your jaw dropping to the floor the moment you arrive. Cue glittering lakes. Green mountains as far as the eye can see. And cashmere-soft sands that melt into sapphire seas. Even spy extraordinaire 007 couldn’t keep away – these magical landscapes starred in the James Bond hit ‘Casino Royale’…….
